The play depicts the awakening journey of Yashodhara, wife of Prince Siddhartha.
Amid the bliss of motherhood, Yashodhara is immersed in the joy of creating a precious gift for her beloved. Anticipating the moment to share her ‘creation’ and bask in her husband’s love, she cherishes these moments of happiness. However, this serenity was shattered by the devastating news of Siddhartha’s unexpected renunciation and subsequent departure from the royal palace after forsaking his family.
The shock of Siddhartha’s abandonment tore apart the idyllic harmony of Yashodhara’s life, plunging her into a profound emotional and physical upheaval. Waves of grief, confusion, and transformation reshaped her being, leading her through a journey of anguish, reflection, and eventual resilience.
This play captures Yashodhara’s evolution, tracing her path from despair to strength. By delving into the intricate layers of her psyche, it explores the pain of separation and the empowerment born from suffering.
